2017-18 എസ്സ് എസ്സ് എല്‍ സി പരീക്ഷയില്‍ മികച്ച വിജയവുമായി....... 

2017-18 അധ്യായന വര്‍ഷത്തിലെ എസ്സ് എസ്സ് എല്‍ സി പരീക്ഷയില്‍ മികച്ച വിജയം കരസ്ഥമാക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് സ്കൂളിലെ ചുണക്കുട്ടികള്‍ സ്കൂളിന്റെ യശസ്സ് വാനോളം ഉയര്‍ത്തി . പരീക്ഷ എഴുതിയ കുട്ടികളില്‍ 47 കുട്ടികള്‍ പത്ത് A+ ഉം17 പേര്‍ ഒന്‍പത് A+ ഉം നേടുകയുണ്ടായി .

SCHOOL HISTORY OF GOVT. HSS. MARAYAMUTTOM

Govt.H.S.S. Marayamuttom is situated at Marayamuttom in   Perumkadavila Panchayat, Perumkadavila Block, Neyyattinkara Taluk, Thiruvananthapuram District. This school is under Neyyattinkara Educational District.

King Marthandavarma, while fleeing from the attack of Ettuveettil Pilla’s had to hide at this place. As his path got struck here, the place started to be known as Maharajamuttom . In course of time, it became Marayamuttom. In a nearby pond, the King took bath, after placing his chain at the shore. So this place is also known as Malakulangara.

About 150 years ago, in the land of Mallan Kumaran, his nephews conducted classes from  I to IV  for their livelihood. With the grant from the government it was upgraded to a middle school. Thus classes up to VII standard were begun in that school. Those days, the school was known as ‘Vadakkembalam School’.

There was a Vazhiyambalam at “Ambalathara” in Marayamuttom junction. It was in the southern side. In the area where the school is situated now, that is at H.S.S. Junction, there was a Vazhiyambalam called Vadakkembalam.  These Vazhiyamblams were built by the landlords for the poor people to lie on and take rest.  Those going to the market, used to take rest here, placing their luggage on the  “Chumaduthangi.” There was facility even to cook food.

Marayamuttom Govt High School had started working before 1957 as a primary school, headed by Pullayil Madhavan Pillai. Then it became a middle school with V,VI and VII classes. The students in this  area depended on Neyyattinkara Govt. H.S. for their high school education. So, the social workers and the important persons there such as Ancode Veedu Shri. P.K. Kurmaran Nair, Valiyavila Veedu  Shri. Vasudevan Nair,Vadakara Shri. Kunjan Panicker and Vamparambuthala Shri. Ayyappan Thampi took initiative and with the efforts of the then opposite leader Shri. Pattam Thanu Pillai, the school was upgraded to High School by Shri. Joseph Mundasseri the Educational Minister of E.M.S. Ministry in 1957.

The required lands were rendered by the Vambarambuthala family,Vellikuzhi family and Valiya Parambu family. The first Headmaster was   Shri. Veeramani Iyyar. When new buildings were granted for H.S., the Primary section was separated as Marayamuttom   L.P.S. near the H.S.

In the academic year 1999-2000, it became Higher Secondary School as a result of a tremendous strike by the people of this place.

Today there are 1543 students, 51 teachers and 7 non-teaching staff in U.P. and H.S. section. And 330 students and 17 teachers are there in the H.S. Section

Most of the students educated from this school have shown their abilities in different fields. Around 10 of the present teachers were the students of this school. The District Panchayat President Shri. Anavoor Nagappan too is an old student of this school.

The English medium class started in the V standard during the academic year 2004-’05. Now more than 80 students are studying in the English medium classes of V, VI and VII standards.
